The manging committe made me editor of the press apartments silver jubilee souvenir in absentia.I would have dithered had I been present in the meeting. But once the name was declared, I took it as honour. But what was in store? Very soon I found I was heading for an impasse as the tentative deadline for receiving articles approached and not a single piece was on my table, not even from those who had promised boisterously. It remembered VSP Kurup's similar dilemma when 15 years ago he was trying to bring out the 10th Anniversary souvenir.

But I need not have worried. Soon enough I received two articles written in refreshing style, content and language by two bright daughters of press Apartments. It restored my confindence. It was only the start of a flood of contributions. Now my worry was how to accommodate all of then: I had planned only an 80-page volume. One month past the deadline articles were still pouring in far exceeding the page-limit. As a way out I curtailed the planned 10-page history of press apartments into a 2-page bonsai version. Thus I was able to use all recceived pieces.
